Quick Update

Olivia has been "home" with us since Saturday night. She is doing so good, eating like crazy and staying awake longer just taking it all in. Emily is still in the level II Nursery. (The hospital has become our "home" until she can come home with us.) She has been fed through a tube in her nose for every other feeding and by bottle on the other. The last thing we are waiting for is for her to have the strength to eat all her feeds on her own. Today is the big day, the doc has given us the go ahead to try her out on it. She needs to finish just over an ounce of milk every three hours. We are so excited!! If she can do it for 24 hours then we can take her home!! We can't wait to see what she does.... she has been gaining weight she is a grand total of 4lbs 6oz.

Some More Pics

Mom and her girls, this is inside the Level II nursery

Isabelle holding Olivia.

This is a normal scene for Loni and I. The girls are doing well. Little Emily will not be going home with us tomorrow, but we're optimistic it won't be long until we can bring her home. The only thing pending is her ability to feed consistently.

Emily no longer needs the lamp to keep herself warm, so they bundle the sisters together. They are so content when they're together.

Size Perspective

That's my driver's license on Emily's belly.

40 Hours Old

Mom and her girls. We put the girls back together after quite a few hours of being apart. They couldn't be more content. Emily is feeding ok, Olivia is chowing down. We're waiting to hear from the pediatrician whether or not Emily will need a feeding tube to help her bulk up. They're both healthy and strong, its just that little Emily is so tired to eat.

Does my head look big here? Emily comes in at 1/70th of my weight.

Olivia whispering to Emily, letting her know everything will be all right. Olivia is always reaching out for her sister, and Emily just loves it.

Baby Pics 3

Here they are, no blankets!!! Emily on the left, Olivia on the right. This is in the Level II nursery, Emily is hooked up right now, being monitored, they brought Olivia in there because she was fussy, she missed her sister Emily. They are just hanging out together now, we like the idea they can spend some quality time together, they were so adorable here, Abbie and I (Ben) visited them.

Here's a closer look, Olivia always had a reassuring hand or arm against Emily. In the words of Izza, so so tute!!!!

Abbie looking over them, Olivia kept opening her eyes and checking out her big sister, I could see the admiration and respect she has for her big sister :)

Baby Pics 2

This is right after the baths, and the first time they were together after leaving mommy's tummy

Abbie was so anxious to see her sisters! Emily had already been sent to the Level II Nursery before she got here, but she loved holding Olivia and begged to see Emily for the next couple of hours.

Izza giving Olivia a kiss on the head. Izza said she is so so so tute(pronounced: tyoot)!

Baby Pics

Ok, for all you bloggers out there, this is Ben. Loni is loading on the pressure to get this out to everyone.

Olivia and Emily were born at 10:14 & 10:15 PM respectively on Tuesday, October 21st. The babies came out crying, with no major hitches. Olivia's oxygen level in her blood was a little low, so she was hooked up to tubes for about 45 minutes until her protests made them take it off to settle her down. They wanted to do it for an hour, but Olivia wouldn't let them go that far! She has been strong ever since, all her vitals are solid.

Emily didn't need any extra help right off the bat. She was just warm and cozy in her incubator, sleeping and sprawled out. She was taking advantage of all the room in the outside world. We were able to hold them and take pictures about 2 hours after they were born. Loni was very anxious to see them after waiting so long. We hung out for awhile with them as they just slept and were so content.

This morning, Wednesday October 22nd, they fed with a little coaxing. They ate everything great, and they are both taking to the pacifier to strengthen their suck. Early on Emily's body temperature was a bit low, so she's been in and out of the warmers. She is there now while we have Olivia with us. We just got news that she is being put into Level 2 nursery, where she will stay until we take her home. That is not great news, but we're optimistic that she will gain weight and grow strong soon. This most likely means she will not come home with us after 3-4 days, it could take several weeks, we hope not that latter.

Olivia - 5lbs 7 oz, 18.5" long
Emily - 4lbs 3 oz, 16" long

We can't seem to wipe the smiles from our faces ever since they were born.

Loni was so exhausted, she fell asleep seconds after she smiled for the camera!

TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH!

We are heading into the hospital for a c- section tonight. I had a doctors appointment today and an ultra sound. Emily is still very small, still under 5lbs but Olivia is measuring 6lbs 5oz. The size is an issue and instead of waiting until Thursday for me to go into labor on my own. We are having them tonight at 8pm. Wish us luck!!!! Headed out now!!!!

Amnio Test Results

The babies lungs are not developed enough to induce tomorrow. The size difference is less of a concern than the lung development at this point. We plan to wait until next Thurs to be induced. So if I don't go into labor before then ,we will finally meet these babies next week! I will have made it to 37 weeks... another great miracle!

Maternity photos

I decided that this would be a fun idea. Ben was skeptical, but afterwards he was glad to have done it. I have a friend from an old ward who does photography, she is fantastic!! If you want to check out some of the photos, click on the link:

Iz

She is my baby for a few more days. I have loved every second of it, she is definitely ready for me to stop baby-ing her. She reminds me all the time that she is a big. I have really enjoyed my alone time with her. Abbie started school and I thought Iz would lose her identity... boy was I wrong, she has taken over the house! She loves being independent and in charge. She keeps me laughing all day long! I love being a MOM!! My kids are the greatest... if there was just a way to keep them little!!

I LOVE the FaLL!!

The girls and I went for a hike last Friday. Abbie was out of school and it was a gorgeous 50+ degrees out. We found the best place, right behind the new Draper, UT Temple. We hiked up right above it and looked down. It was awesome! You can see Moroni in the back of the top left pic. The girls loved every step, we were picking out the prettiest leaves we could find. Iz couldn't believe all the PINK leaves! They kept finding ones that we had to take pictures of. It was so beautiful!!!!!! I could've stayed all day!
Now for those of you who are freaking out because I am hiking... well I am hiking at a two year old pace. Plus we are now trying to go into labor! YEAH!! The doc has plans to induce this Friday if they aren't here already. I would really like to go into labor on my own. So hiking, biking, jogging, anything that will help I only have 4 days left! :)

CoRn BeLLyS!!

Every year Thanksgiving Point hosts Corn Belly's (a fall carnival). It is a blast. We had so much fun, even though it was super windy and FREEZING cold!! The girls ran from one thing to another. It was so good to get out of the house and let them be free!! They played on the slides, rode on the cow train, watched the pig races, rode the trikes on the race track, and got to sit in Cinderellas carriage!! They even got Ben to play on the slides with them! What a great night!! We love Corn Belly's!!!!

35 weeks THE BELLY!!!!

We have made it to 35 weeks, another huge milestone!! I have had a couple of doc appointments this week, I was dilated to 3cm on Monday. On Tuesday we met with the perinatologist who did an ultra sound to check the size and weights of the girls. Olivia is going strong gaining a whole 22 ounces in the last 3 weeks, weighing in at 5lbs 2oz , but Emily hasn't made such great progress, she only gained 11 ounces for a grand total of 4lbs 3oz. This has cause for some concern and we will be monitoring her very close. I am going in to talk with the doc tomorrow to see what he thinks about it all. Hopefully we can come up with a good plan of action that makes everyone feel comfortable. In the meantime we are just praying that she will grow grow grow!!! I am feeling pretty good, just XXL!! We are getting really excited as the big event gets closer and closer! We can't wait to meet our girls!!!

My silly girls!

These girls are best friends! I love that I get to listen to them play together. Abbie is so patient with Iz! They have so much fun playing together... not that they don't have their moments, but for the most part it is awesome! They love to set up places to "hide" for play and reading. They were reading animal book and Abbie was quizzing Iz, making her name the animals she was pointing to. Its funny to watch her be the mom! I love my girls and can't wait to have two more running around.. or at least keeping me up all night and all that other fun baby stuff!!!

PHEW!!! 34 weeks!

The bed rest seems to have done its job. I am officially out of the major danger zone. Thanks to Mom for cleaning the whole house, Linda for coming up, and Corina for cleaning another day!!! (and to Tiff for sending books for me to read!)
I am just past the 34 week mark so from here on out it should be smooth sailing. I am hoping to hold off for another week and half. If I can make it 36 weeks then we should be perfect!!
Thanks again to everyone for the support!!

Puzzle Time

Isabelle LOVES to do puzzles. She has a whole system down. She gets out one box at a time and then puts it together and saves it to the side before getting out another one. We only have five puzzles so she does them all and sits back and looks at them very proud of herself. Then back in the box they go with all the pieces upside down so when you get it back out you can dump the whole box over and all are face up, no one can help her because they don't do it right... its so funny. Today I timed her, it took her less than thirty minutes to put together all five by herself!! (I think I handed her maybe three or four pieces total) She is all about processes and systems... don't know where she gets it?!
